You applied the false "black or white" dichotomy to me. Did you look at the color of my skin then make an assumption? And as much as you might like me to refuse to acknowledge that I have ancestors from Africa, I won't do it. I am mixed and am proud of my Polynesian, African, and European ancestral roots.

Does the possibility that we might be related disturb you? That my great-grandmother was darker than you?

Another false dichotomy is to kill the enslavers or not be free. Freedom doesn't work that way, Ray. Killing for freedom means becoming the oppressor - in fact, by committing genocide against any group - including enslavers - gets you a multigenerational grudge. What's next? Kill all the killers?

It is ideas based on bigotry that need killing, not the people who hold those ideas.

I would hope that killing all members of any group - even hypothetically killing enslavers - is not seen as any form of a step forward.

Nor you or I speak on behalf of Alicia, Patrisse, or Opal. Shall we ask them? The reason I suspected that they might not support Tim Wise's hypothetical genocide is that they seemed to me to be more about peace and love than bloodshedding.
