This all seems so surreal. I'm someone who was based in the US for a few years but am now based in New Zealand.

And now... having beaten the last out break (something we're getting better and better at) the rest of NZ is back to the new normal ('Level 1'), where everything is open except our borders. While Auckland, all going well, will be Level 1 in about a week.

Lower than most everywhere in the world. Again.

So this is even worse than survivor's guilt - our country of 5 million has had a total 25 Covid-19 related deaths.

Maybe it is some form of survivor's guilt I'm feeling. The words surreal, numb and a generally pushing back of any emotion.

People keep saying you have to live with it - I still can't rationalize that it is not a choice. In the very least it 'should' be a choice for Hawaii - or any area you can cordon off - and take the tough decision to eliminate rather than 'live with the virus'.
