The memory of a past pain visited me today

It kind of snuck up and caught me a little by surprise.

I remember like yesterday
what you said
and what you did
The past, well it can’t be undone

There’s no going back
to what was before
and no going forward
without hurt

so it hurts
yes it hurts

trust is good to get right
and you broke it
time and again
The past, well it can’t be undone

There’s no going back
to what was before
and no going forward
without hurt

so it hurts
yes it hurts

There’s no going back
to what was before
and no going forward
without hurt

so it hurts
yes it hurts

The above was written in 2016 — and I have never shared it before except with a few who are close to me. Seems appropriate to share it now, forty-eight hours after my father passed.
