Excellent blog.

Some interesting criticisms, some valid, many not.

I'm based in New Zealand, where we have proved (so far) that combatting the SARS-CoV-2 virus is not only possible, it makes economic sense.

We have relaxed our measures a week ago: because we are on top of the second outbreak. Our response to the second outbreak was better than the first and I expect our next response will be even better.

Just so you know, New Zealand (pop 5 million) has 120 known active cases, and all of them are in isolation. Sadly, there have been 24 deaths in total.

For those who don't think governance matters, consider other populations surrounded by water. Hawaii (pop 1.4 million) has had 91 deaths, and has 6,912 active cases. Or Australia (pop 25 million) has 788 deaths, and currently 2,689 active cases.

Measures work. The virus can be beaten.
